Campaigns
Two campaigns have been played in the Monolith setting. Both are driven by 'six truths' based on a method of campaign management in the excellent Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master, by Sly Flourish. If you DM, you need a copy of this book!
Genesis Toroid campaign
This followed Janus Alkers, Kenny Bourbon, Owen Dunda, Domingo Flores and Hundo McCleary as the human society on the space station Genesis Toroid comes to terms with a wakening of supernatural abilities. The game system was a hack of DM Scotty's fantasy-themed EZD6.
- Humans have achieved mass interplanetary travel, established basic colonies on Mars and the gas giants' moons, and asteroid belt mining sites, while initiating early Venus terraforming and nearing interstellar capabilities.
- The USSR is back, renewing old grievances with its rivals in space.
- Early high-tech attempts to go interstellar have failed and the hulks of many of the pioneering ships lurk around the solar system, housing insane crews.
- Avalanche AI has been promising for decades that artificial general intelligence (AGI) is only months away.
- An alien monolith, covered in precursors to human language and advanced mathematics solutions, found in a Martian cave, sparks a competitive race among conflicting groups to retrieve this "scientific Rosetta stone."
- The "Ender-man Cult" (so called online, much to adherents' annoyance) predicts the return of the Mars stone-placers, while religions claim a messiah's arrival.
AA Team campaign
Follows the events of the Genesis Toroid campaign some thrity years later. Humans have more or less come to terms with people with psychic abilities in their midst.
This campaign follows the crew of the Cookie Cutter: Barry the butler bot, Faux Hawk, Mazen, Ripley and Terry, as they chase a quick buck.
Offworlders powers this campaign and is much better suited to the setting, at least until DM Scotty finishes the sci-fi version of EZD6!
